As part of your owner’s checklist, you should check your windshield wiper fluid level regularly. Check your tank when your sprayer isn’t working, before you take a long trip, or your car tells you to. There are several other situations where you should check your wiper fluid level; North Penn Mazda has highlighted some below.

When Your Sprayer Isn’t Working

The classic sign that you need to check your tank is that your car won’t spray windshield wiper fluid. You may find that the vehicle isn’t spraying as much fluid onto the glass. Check your tank to see if you’re running low.

When Your Car Says So

Many newer Mazda models come with sensors that detect when you’re running low on fluids. This includes your windshield washer tank. Open the hood and see if your windshield wiper fluid is below the fill line.

When You’re Taking a Trip

Before you take a long road trip, you need to check all of your fluids. Everything from oil to coolant to windshield wiper fluid must be inspected to ensure you have enough. Fill up before you head out to avoid headaches.

When You Notice a Leak

Have you noticed a fluid leak beneath your vehicle? It could be your windshield wiper fluid, as either your tank or a hose could have a hole in it. You can check your wiper fluid tank over time to see if it’s constantly losing liquid.

When It’s Been a While

The above examples are emergency situations. If you don’t encounter them, it’s still important to regularly check your fluid level. Make sure you inspect this tank at least once a month.
