Who Owns MAZDA?

As of 2008, Mazda is an independent company that owns most of its own shares. In addition to the Mazda Motor Corporation, other major shareholders include the Master Trust Bank of Japan, the Custody Bank of Japan Ltd, and the Toyota Motor Company (which signed a long-term partnership with Mazda in 2015). Previously, the Ford Motor Company also held a significant stake in the company, but it sold most of its Mazda shares in 2008.

Who Makes My MAZDA Vehicle?

Mazda owns several factories across the world, but most of the major manufacturing takes place in its home country of Japan. Three main Japanese plants make up the bulk of vehicle manufacturing: one each in Hiroshima, Hofu, and Miyoshi. The Hiroshima and Hofu plants manufacture automobiles and transmissions, while the Miyoshi plant focuses primarily on engines.

What About Other Plants?

For the North American market, some models are manufactured in other locations. For example, the Mazda CX-50 is manufactured in the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA plant in Huntsville, Alabama. Meanwhile, the Mazda CX-30 and Mazda3 are most commonly manufactured in the Salamanca plant in Guanajuato, Mexico.
